ÇAYYOLU GUARD AGAINST
ELECTROMAGNETIC POLLUTION ASSOCIATION (ÇEKOD)
HOW the ÇEKOD
FOUNDED:
The managements of the
Doğa, Mesa Koru, Tuğberk, Beyaz Gül, Temsa, Özgecan, Yiğitler,
Canyuva, İş Bankalılar, Güzelkent, Yarenler ve Ankaralılar Sites,
which are in Ankara, the capital city of Turkey, have concerted to
become an association by forming a founders committee in April 16,
2006 and they have established ÇEKOD (Çayyolu Guard Against
Electromagnetic Pollution Association) in May 5, 2006.
FOUNDERS and BOARD:
ÇEKOD's founders
committee members are; M. Ramazan Öngöre, U. Ömer Esentürk, Yavuz
Gerçek, Namık Öner, Ahmet Gündoğdu, Sebahattin Bayramoğlu,
Muzaffer İlhan, Muhittin Ünal, Dr. Levent Akgüngör.
ÇEKOD's current board of
management composed of M. Ramazan Öngöre, U. Ömer Esentürk, Yavuz
Gerçek, Namık Öner, Ass. Prof. Celal Bayrak.
ÇEKOD's AIM:
ÇEKOD has a supportive
attitude about technological developments and their usage on
today's life.
ÇEKOD's aim is to make
the government and public about base station and high-voltage
transmission lines and their potential risks when they are placed
too near the settlements concerning human health, air traffic.
Secondly, ÇEKOD is looking for solutions to avoid electromagnetic
pollution, to encourage the protection against electromagnetic
pollution for example, standardization of clothes and building
insulations to achieve reliable protection against electromagnetic
pollution. And they think that Çayyolu is suitable as a pilot area
for this purpose.
ÇEKOD's VISION:
ÇEKOD is the first and
unique association concerning electromagnetic pollution.
ü
ÇEKOD's all efforts are on
publicizing the idea of “Avoiding harmful effects of technology
when keep using products of technological developments” and
getting the public adopt a lifestyle based on this philosophy.
ü
Electromagnetic pollution and
non-ionizing radiation have to be considered as environmental
pollution legalistically. Furthermore, ÇEKOD makes effort to mold
public opinion for this pollution and governmental and
non-governmental cooperation on having required regulations made
and having precautions against possible outcomes of this
pollution taken.
ü
ÇEKOD makes effort on
establishment of technical and administrative substructure
concerning electromagnetic pollution and also on taking
legalistic precautions required to control this problem and on
arranging of educative activities.
ACTIVITY and
SUCCESS EXAMPLES:
ÇEKOD had many successes
and activities serve as model across Turkey which was introduced
by press, too. Besides, court decisions, scientist and authority
opinion and works concerning this subject and also technical and
legal information with recent cases can be seen at

ü
As a
consequence of efforts along five years, tower type base station
in plantation area beside Ankara Çayyolu Doğa Site is disassembled
in accordance with court decision.
ü
A roof
type base station in Çayyolu Doğa Site is disassembled with aid
of ÇEKOD's efforts effect on public opinion.
ü
Prof.
Dr. Nesrin Seyhan, Chief of Biophysics Department at Gazi
University, have given a lecture on “Electromagnetic Pollution and
Its Effects: Base Stations and High-Voltage Transmission Lines in
Çayyolu” by assessing Çayyolu as a risky place for health problems
like cancer etc.
ü
ÇEKOD
consults and is in contact with the academicians of Gazi
University, Hacettepe University and M.E.T.U. about
electromagnetic pollution.
ü
ÇEKOD
supplies university student depending on their demand with
documents concerning electromagnetic pollution to help on their
scientific researches.
ü
Efforts
to raise the awareness of the youths about avoiding the risks of
electromagnetism started with permission of the Ankara
governorship in 2008, is continued and extended.
ü
Articles
concerning electromagnetic pollution and ÇEKOD's efforts take part
in monthly youth magazines. Besides, ÇEKOD opens stands in youth
festivals and participates in TV broadcasts to extend public
awareness concerning electromagnetic pollution.
ü
A
activity has been arranged at Çayyolu Market Place namely
“High-Voltage Transmission Lines Have To Be Under The Ground” and
together with some of the M.E.T.U. electromagnetic pollution
measurements have been conducted. Also, Turkish Telecommunication
Corporation's electromagnetic pollution measurements at Çayyolu
neighborhood have been attended by ÇEKOD.
ü
In Ali
Rıza Bey Forest of Çayyolu, M. Kemal Settlement, Eryaman and
N.A.T.O. Settlement, outdoor meetings demanding “Disassemble of
Base Stations” have been conducted or have given support with
broad participation by ÇEKOD.
ü
We are
supporting, informing and guiding in the fields of law for the
people who are suffering from the base stations, high tension
lines etc.
ü
10,000
signature collected in petition concerning “Disassemble of Base
Stations in the neighborhood of Schools and Settlements” and have
conducted to the Minister of Environment and Forests.
ü
Public
authorities is advised about possible health risks of building of
play fields under the high-voltage transmission lines.
ü
We are
trying to pursuate the münicipalities that the sport fields
constructed under the
high tension lines are harmful for the human health. |
